Navy Pier, Chicago, IL

Navy Pier is a big attraction in the city of Chicago. Jutting out into Lake Michigan, it is a recreational facility for residents and tourists. Originally built as a turn-of-the-century metropolitan park for the people of Chicago to escape city life, it offers a variety of fun.

With a huge selection of bars and restaurants, there are eating establishments that can satisfy any number of taste buds. Bubba Gump's Shrimp Company is an anchor restaurant, along with McDonald's, and a collection of pub-style restaurants, as well as a smattering of food vendors.

Souvenir shops, boutiques, and kiosks all offer places to spend your money. The Pier also has a 150 foot ferris wheel, a swing ride, and a carousel. 

Navy Pier is also home to Crystal Gardens, an indoor garden surrounded by windows on all sides. That location, plus the ballroom, can be rented out for functions and events. Another attraction is the Stained Glass Museum, donated by the Smith Family of Chicago, to recognize Chicago's history of great stained glass artwork in the city's buildings and turn-of-the-century houses.
