Badlands National Park--Heading West
The Badlands are absolutely huge. You can drive the Badlands Loop for about 30 miles. Each
time you come to the top of a hill, you think you are almost out, but
you see a new series of geological features that jump out of the land. As you head west, the Badlands become a mix of both prairie and “badlands.” Each vista is more impressive than the next.
We especially liked the Yellow Mounds which were rounded hills with bold layers of colors. At the end of the loop, you are back in the prairie and headed for the Black Hills.
